Haha. Funny. First, there is only one popular website that I can think of that has falling snow. I’m not going to mention it, but I actually like that website.

Next, you are right, a lot of things are SUPER annoying. I always want to scream: “Remove the tacky animations, they’re distracting! I can’t read your page.” But my internal agony is quite often drowned out by the equally annoying jingle that they – for some odd reason – have found clever. lol.

Anyway, the holidays have come to a close. So the web should be wiped clean of most of this nonsense soon…. only to be replaced by a dancing bunny in a few months, when Easter rolls around. lol.

Great article. Your callous remarks have made my rant possible.

I am so glad someone mentioned this. I thought I was going crazy.

The funny thing is the snow effect works really well for the header graphic or top area of the page, but when you’re reading text half way down the page it looks like your monitor is playing trick on you!

In fairness, it’s all just a bit of fun for Xmas, and for a lot of people it’s something nice for the clients that visit the sites, rather than other designers/developers that might visit. So while you (and I) are over-exposed to falling snowflakes etc. we spend far more time than the majority of people looking at websites.

I agree, and it surprised me when I hit up the Boagworld site and found they’ve done much the same, http://boagworld.com.

For cheering accessibility and modern trends, I certainly wasn’t expecting to see snowflakes raining across the page.
