If you have a website the chances are great that you also have a Twitter account related to your website. Twitter has become our visit card online more then our websites for the simple fact that we update our Twitter status regularly. Now even though there are countless of Twitter clients out there a lot of people still use Twitter via their web browser. So having a nice and good looking Twitter background is important.

Designing a background for your Twitter account is more a challenge then designing for your website or not, depends on what kind of designer you are. With Twitter you have to take into account to put the focus of your background design to the left, it must not be too wide because not everyone has a large resolution and even so it doesn’t mean they have their browser windows maxed out.

I spend time browsing through Twitter accounts looking for backgrounds that catch my attention and that are original so far I could tell. I picked out 20 designs that are good source of inspiration on how to design your Twitter background. Of those 20 designs I find the ones with matching avatar look much better then ones with unrelated avatars.
