Excellent review! nicely written.

But I've been using http://www.seo-semantic-xhtml.com/ for all my psd to html or open source software integration requirement for last couple of months

Good service and flawless communication I can say!

I have used the PSD2HTML service a couple of times (mostly for fairly simple designs) and have had a very similar experience to yours. Markup was received in time and was valid. Similarly, it was not quite as clean CSS as I would have done myself, but suitable enough. Their price felt very reasonable to me.

We recently sent a series of complex page templates off to these guys when our coder was overwhelmed with other projects. My expectations were fairly low, but they delivered very accurate files exactly as you got them (in a markup folder, organized and commented), with the addition of some nice pop-up tooltips and other CSS effects. The turnaround was quick, the price was right, and though our coder said the same thing about code organization, in general I think they did a great job. The service via email was a little impersonal (but the fact they interpreted my comps without any verbal explanation was impressive). I say give 'em a shot.
