I want the theme to have an option which allows webmasters to choose whether they want to activate left or right column in their theme.

themes presently come with a right or left column and webmasters have no choice. they should be able to choose which column they want to activate.

also they should be able to choose the width of the column by typing in the column width.

Jordan, don't worry about reposted articles. All content on Devlounge will be original.

Jordan, I gotta agree with you... the link-hover-popup ads are irritating at best; the content has gone from interesting to bland; the readership has gone out the window...

Who cares what you do with the design... Content is king. Not aesthetics. Do more interviews, post more interesting topics... get readership back and then worry about how it looks... NOT visaversa.

Honestly, I don't give a crap about Slashpress. DevLounge is its own "brand," and I don't want to see recycled articles from it's "network" posted on here as well.

I mean, I'm fine with linking the sites on here, but anything more than that, and I'd be less tempted to visit here. The quality of the content posted as of late are pretty bleak as it is.

The design looks very great. But as for the requirements listed, it is really a very great plan for devlounge.

That's cools idea.Specially Idea number 2 & 3 will keep more content on this site. And is good for devlounge.

Most of the devlounge design's are cool, that' aj.I think you should consult aj about this.As it was his project maybe he still knows what is good for Devlounge.

Maybe once you design new theme, you can giveaway old themes to users. That is what Aj used to do.It's all on your court now.

I'm glad to hear that you are keeping much of the look and feel the same. I am in the process of overhauling my theme and Devlounge is one of my benchmarks.

The comment that I have regarding content flow and Splashpress networking is that you may have an opportunity to take on some elements of a "news" theme. Specifically, 2 or 3 story column at the bottom. That way you can give the higher volume of posts the appropriate visibility/linkage they need... without cluttering the sidebar or the main post area.

My 2 cents,
Bob

I think you have enough clean design and aesthetics, if some changes must be done, it may try to join the web2.0 design elements.
