R.A.W. – Day 1 Featured Site
The first Reader Appreciation Week featured site is Kokopelli, a personal weblog. Coming in at comment number 324, KP features a seemingly two column layout (split between black and white), with each side pulling it’s own different posts. It’s powered by, what else – Wordpress, my favorite blogging / cms system around.
Be sure to check back tomorrow when we’ll feature someone else!

I remember visiting that site when it was pretty new with hardly any posts. It’s come a long way. And one of our articles helped out the archives.

I like the sites design although it’s kind of hard to read imo.

It’s not easy to read, not the world’s best design and very simple.
There was much better sites to showcase imo!
Sorry.

I like the idea behind this design but I can’t help feeling that it makes the content very difficult to digest.
I feel like I can’t concentrate on a single column/article as my attention is constantly being drawn to the opposite side.
Perhaps some sort of toggle (Javascript/CSS) to ‘dim’ a column so you can focus on one at a time?
Its a shame though as there seems to be quite alot of good information there, its just difficult to read.

Yes, it is a little difficult to read, which is definitely a downfall.
@Ben – It’s all random! Anyone’s site is eligible, so not all of them may be the absolute best.

really nice site, even though readibility, i must agree, is bit low. but nice idea with the black/white theme especiall the links (and on hover) are smart

Wow, didn’t expect to see my site on here, very strange.
Sorry to hear most people don’t actually like it all that much, but I didn’t really expect it to ever come under the microscope like this, was just somewhere for me to document stuff I like, photo’s I’ve taken and thing’s that happen to me – selfishly designed in a way I liked without too much consideration for usability.
Anyways, great to receive the huge influx in traffic over the last day or so, am sure it will rapidly decrease to what it was before once this topic filters into the archives

“selfishly designed in a way I liked without too much consideration for usability” – I like your honesty so the goes site up in my estimates!
