It is obvious to me that there are two kinds of Devlounge readers (or more kinds, possibly). One have little or no experience with graphic design and are more versed in code, and the other which is very good with software like Photoshop. These tutorial pieces were written geared towards the previous group, and from comments and e-mails, I'd say they are filling a purpose.

However, in our continuing strive to make a better site, there is no doubt that some readers - several which are speaking their minds above - doesn't approve of this. That's fine, without reader comments we wouldn't know what you thought of things.

We'll rethink our tutorial strategy for these things, and for now we'll stick to more immediate web development and design issues.

Thanks for the comments, even the ones that didn't make the site for more than a couple of minutes. For those of you who are pissed about that, well, try and be a bit more civil next time, whether you're bashing or defending something. :)

Again, thanks!

Too bad. I really loved devlounge when I first came across it about a year ago, but this is really way below the standard of quality that devlounge was offering back then.

I agree with both the above comments - in fact I jumped over from my feed reader to mention it.

The quality of article subjects have definably gone down the drain, specifically the Photoshop tutorials, to be quite honest its the same kind of stuff you get when you search for "photoshop tutorials" on Google.

I will NOT be unsubscribing, yet, I hope to see the quality improve. ;)

I sadly agree with Ryan Williams. It definitely is a sad day, but the quality of content is dropping.

But, I can't stand to see topics and articles that no longer urge you to try new things, but rather plague you with material that just isn't new and upcoming. Or even current.

I agree to Ryan. Lately Devlounge has not been up to the standards you should expect from it.

I now officially unsubscribe. Sorry Devlounge, but the complete absence of insightful posts is starting to corrode my brain. Why are you trying to teach your audience — mostly comprised of experienced and professional designers — how to do stuff like flaming text, using filters, and adding borders to images? I mean, seriously?

Enjoy the readership of whoever it is you're targeting with this relentless string of novice-level posts — you've certainly not got mine anymore.

Apologies for posting this in your article Zoe, and please don't take this personally. This is a comment on the appropriateness rather than quality of posts.
