Well, now I see that I missed the “favorite” website question. For all of 2006? Hard question for an ADD type; it’s more like “flavor of the week.”

By FAR the worst corporate website ever. At first glimpse, you might think: “What’s wrong with that?”. Just try disabling JavaScript or CSS. Bang and the site is gone!

There are bad sites let down by people that know very little about designing and they’ve clearly tried their best. There are other sites where people know the design (maybe primarily in other formats like print) and just don’t know how to best structure something for the web. But there are sites like this where the company has a) the money and b) the designers to complete a project like this PROPERLY. Instead they push out a half-assed effort like that.

The color scheme, the grid pattern, the broken dynamic navigation, the grid pattern, huge empty space at the bottom of the ridiculously long page, and that f*ing horrible grid pattern all make this one of the worst websites of the year.

If you’re a designer, and someone comes to you and says “we have a serious financial product that investors can benefit from, help us market it online,” and you think “Lisa Frank! Geocities!” you probably suck, and deserve a nomination like this.

http://lebronjames.com Not only is a ridiculous loading time, but the loading page says "Untitled Document" in the title bar (you can even see it in the supplementary results on a Google search for "lebron james"). Then, once the uncomfortably long initial load is over, you have to wait for another incredibly long load time for the main area. Once you see what loads, the majority of it doesn't even take advantage of Flash's capabilities, which means there was no reason to go through the huge loading sequence. Given the high profile of Lebron James, I give this the worst site of '06.
