What's New
We are redesgining from the top down, with a blank slate and (finally) an entirely new layout. With a light weight, fast loading page that maximizes content area and showcases more of our original content to you, also comes a few new sections and features only we offer.
- Increased space. We've bumped up the pixel width to 960px, which will add a great amount of screen reading room for your pleasure. What about our 800x600 readers? With less than 1% of our visitors on anything 800x600 or less, it should not be a problem.
- Easier access. The same great reader options will remain constant, with custom style sheets for quick article-only printing and send-to-friend features so you can share the wealth.
- Author Tidbits - Learn a little bit about your favorite author while your reading the article. It's about time we give credit where it due other than just on the authors index.
- Totally redesigned pages. It isn't just the homepage undergoing changes - every main page will be reorganized and redesigned, making it even easier to find the content you want.
- More content. We admit, things have slipped recently. The content department totally deserves to steps above where it currently is, and it will be.
New Features
Along with multiple site wide cosmetic and article improvements will come the introduction of new features and sections designed to improve your convenience and offer you more while at Devlounge.
- The Hub - Want to know what's going on at all your favorite resources? The hub will connect you to the best content across the web, through partnerships with some excellent resources, including the soon to be launched Developers Shelf book review resource.
- Community - We are now plenty large enough to introduce our own (small) community, where your questions will turn into extensive articles. Your ideas, our insight.
- Openid Comment Ready - Use your OpenID registration information to make commenting easier and more effective
Launch Specials
To coincide will the launch of the next Devlounge design, we will be releasing Devlounge 2 as a free Wordpress theme. Of course we will be stripping certain Devlounge specific elements out, but the core design (requested many times back in the day) will be available to you. Of course, we will also have plenty of other things going on around here, and these new features and additions are just a brief look into Devlounge this June.
