Site is Down, Reddit Style
Granted, I’m not a dedicated Reddit user, but that being said, this is the first time I’m getting the “reddit is currently offline” page. It is nothing like the fail whale of Twitter fame, more of an ironic, appropriately geeky, kind of message you get. Like so:

Is this a good way to tell people you’re currently offline? What do you think a good offline page should contain? Tell us in the comments.

Knowing the people who use reddit, I think a bit of humor is a good thing. I think an offline notice needs to be done in a way that fits your readers.
IE: istock uses the vector graphics in a cute way. Stumbleupon also has a vector page done to portray the easy going nature of its users. For my http://www.bootstrappingblog.com website, the readers are more serious when it comes to business, so I’d want to do something more user friendly and serious for them. No headless ghosts or goblins with pitch forks
