Microsoft Launches Blogging Tool

Yesterday, Microsoft released the first free beta of Windows Live Writer, a fully-featured desktop blogging tool. This first release looks very good, but I myself have yet to give it a shot. I had planned on reviewing it, but after checking my buddy Paul’s site, he had a long review like I expected he would. Take a look as it covers mostly everything WLW has to offer in its first public beta.
I am a young designer who has been doing this longer than most other people my age. I had an early start, and have built upon it over the last few years. Devlounge was my first major successful project, which I hope is the first of many. DL is now officially out of my hands, but I hope to continue contributing for as long as I can. See more posts by

I’ve been using it and i must say that microsoft did a very nice job! It works very good with Wordpress and i think it’s much better then the wordpress editor. There are still some minor features i’d like to see (like the more button for wordpress) but overall it’s very nice!
Writer doesn’t have good XHTML support. For example, adding an image and aligning it produces the invalid align=”left” and align=”right” attributes. Adding images also surrounds it with an anchor tag that has an unsupported attribute. Writer also has an annoying habit of adding embedded styles when adding images as well.
Writer is a great tool though. I’ve used it twice and am very pleased. I do most of my work in the WYSIWYG and go into the HTML code and do the minor tweaking to get it xhtml compatible.
I am rather hesitant in using the Performancing plugin for Firefox due to their poor Wordpress/Image support (what can I say, I love posting images). Until Performancing catches up, I think I’ll stick with Writer.
