Thanks for linking to my About page. To be honest, the bulleted list was more of a "lazy-solution™" for writing an actual bio. In the end, I think I like it better than a paragraph-style bio. I do need to add a picture, since I agree that its a huge thing to put a face to your name. More and more, I've been linking to my twitter account (http://twitter.com/shaunandrews) as my "who is this guy" page for new people. Its perfect! It has a picture and a running commentary on my life.

I totally agree with these two tips: "It helps to put a photo of yourself up, too" and "Contact information is good to have here". So far from what I've learned in classes for my BS in Web Design and Development program points toward these two concepts as definite "best practices", from a design philosophy standpoint.

Definitely a good idea to put a human face on your otherwise inhuman website. People respond much better to a website that seems to allow a human, or emotional connection. It brings them back for more and makes them more interested in what you've got to say.

Contact information should be EVERYWHERE. On the about us page, on the contact us page, and in the footers, on every other page. If you're selling something, make sure that your customers don't have to look too far to find you.

Yes, very practical indeed. I like the idea of putting contact details and feeds on the About page even though they may have dedicated pages somewhere else on the site.

I didn't realize how important people thought "About Me/Us" pages were until I read an article by @jamieharrop. He was talking about making it more personal so that possible future readers can make a connection and want to subscribe.

When I read that, I overhauled my about page. Even though my blog is for my business, because of my market I felt that I could be more personal and do what I did.

I never kept it at the "Wordpress" original about text. That's just lazy. You shouldn't even start marketing your blog until you have a little blurb, even if you're going to expand on it later.
