Multiple Monitor Love
For years, I resisted switching to multiple monitors. I’ll just buy a larger monitor, I thought- surely one huge screen was better than having to give up precious desk space for all those extra machines?
Now, of course, I can’t imagine not working without my multiple monitor setup. Here’s why:
Different spaces for different things. Forget OS X’s spaces- having multiple monitors gives you the real thing, baby! Design apps over there, games over here, social networking apps there… particularly good if, like me, you’re a little bit OC.
Faster testing. Testing new websites and designs on various browsers has always been my least favorite part of my work process. Being able to have Safari open in one monitor, Firefox in another, Chrome in another, etc. really speeds things up.
Better overall productivity. Ultimately, if you’re a multi-tasker, you’ll adore the possibilities that a multiple monitor setup will give you. All that switching from window to window, and dragging from here to there, on a single monitor setup really does add up- and I’ve found that I get more work done in less time with a multiple monitor setup.
Do you use multiple monitors? Are you considering adding another monitor to your setup?

I’m a long time 3monitor club lover.
Or even 4 screen setups depending on the desk setup. Nowadays I only have my MB and a 20″ connected though when at home.

I’m using a dual monitor setup both at home and at work, but wouldn’t mind having a third monitor at either setup. Running Visual Studio on one screen, Firefox on the other and Firebug in a third would be really sweet!

I have a dual monitor setup at work but not any more at home. I miss it! I don’t know if i could handle 3 monitors tho!

Dual monitors at work, does wonders for my productivity. At home I just have my MBP, but I have an extra monitor to hook it up to once I get a desk to put it on! At work or at home I would love 3 monitors, but perhaps I am just being greedy

I used to run dual 19″ monitors when I was on a PC. Now that I work 100% from my MacBookPro, I have a 30″ Cinema Display (resolution is the same at 2 19″ monitors) and still run my MacBookPro as a second monitor.

I have a 24″ and 19″ at work and love it. It’s actually an incentive to go in to work on those days when I’d rather work from home.

Eric, I can see how that would be an incentive

i’d been using a dual monitor setup for years, but figured when i bought a 24″ iMac, i wouldn’t have to bother anymore, right? wrong. didn’t take me long at all to throw up a 19″widescreen beside it to relieve some of the pressure. it’s perfect for keeping all of those pesky little (Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, Illustrator, etc.) palettes on.
i’ve only done a 3-monitor setup once and it honestly made me feel a little squirrelly…
