I find that when I write (or type) stuff I tend to remember it more. I also like sharing what I know and getting feedback - I learn a lot from the comments people leave and the questions that they ask. Most of all it does truly serve as a reference for me in the future when I don't quite remember how I did something... if I blogged or wrote a tutorial about it then I can always refer back to it.
