Here it is: The Redesign Contest

Calling all designers! My time trying to figure out what the best contest for April would be has finally come to an end. I think this contest will be functional for everyone involved. You, the designer, get to have fun and show us your own vision of the next look for Devlounge. You also get [...]

Weekend Wrap-up

Here we are again, back with another update. I want to apologize for what might have seemed like a lack-luster week last week. After a week full of reviews, last week was fairly quiet. Each of us in the small team that makes up Devlounge has been busy of late, leading to less full articles. [...]

Review Crazy

Over the past week, it seems we’ve been review crazy. While it’s nice to be building up the review section of the site, all these reviews in a row have probably left some of you annoyed with the lack of variety. Not to worry, because we have finally finished all our review requests and can [...]

WordPress Security Alert

Last night the WordPress team announced a critical security issue that came about in WordPress 2.1.1 after a hacker gained access to the servers and edited a couple files allowing a possible remote php execution. Supposedly, the code was only found in 2.1.1 downloads from the past few days, but WordPress recommended that everyone upgrades [...]

One month and counting

With tomorrow beginning March 1st (and due to our global reach, it may already be March 1st for some of you), I have begun planning what will be a month long celebration when Devlounge turns one in April. The homepage will be temporarily redesigned and feature some special content that will include some of the [...]

Couple of things

An error began popping up today that I think came out of an upgrade in one of our peppers running on Mint. The downloads pepper (I think) was redirecting .php files (sometimes) and giving you the option to download them instead of to execute. I have heard from a few people that when they attempted [...]

More New Features

Earlier in the week I said that this would be a week of updating and tweaking, and for the most part, that’s exactly what went on this week. While I still want to rework the Interviews page, there were many other things changed and reworked during the past week to add better functionality to Devlounge. [...]

Pre-Spring Cleanups

If you stop by Devlounge today, you may notice that the articles index has been revamped, making it much easier to find things and giving you more ways to find what you’re looking for. Previously, the articles index was rather confined. It showcased the last three posts from each category, which not only slowed down [...]

Comments form updated

I finally updated the comment form today to break up trackbacks and comments to prevent trackbacks from breaking up responses. It appears (at least to me) that the comment area is now taking longer to load. This could be because of cache issues, or the comments code may need to be optimized and cleaned up. [...]

New Milestone Reached

I’m happy to report that we’ve [finally] reached 400+ feed subscribers (via Feedreader, does not include individual category subsciptions)! Thank you to everyone who have us on their favorite rss reader and considers our content to be that important. We thank you for your support! Speaking of support, we’re just a few days shy of [...]

1/25 Update

I’m sorry for the slow week this week. It was exam week in school for myself, so I’ve had other things to focus on than writing new content. Expect a new Friday Focus tomorrow, and possibly a new edition of the “Essentials” series, although if I don’t get around to it will go live on [...]

Move Success

We’re happy to report that our server move went fairly smoothly. We ran into a few problems getting things squared away again, but everything is up and running like it should be once again and we’re happy with the move. I can see a pretty nice decrease in load time, so I’m liking this new [...]
