Refreshed Homepage Now Up
If you’re looking for something to go good with your Sunday breakfast, stop by Devlounge and have a look at the updated homepage. As promised, it was time to trash all of the extra stuff and put more focus on our articles. I still have some things to add (just a few more things to the sidebar on the right), and I’m still trying to determine the best amount of articles to have on the front page (more or less than right now…what do you think?). Let me know what you think of the change.

Much better! I like the focus on the content and the interviews. Of course, there’s still a place for Fernando’s illustration — it just doesn’t need so much surrounding fanfare.

Yes, they are. I’ve discontinued them for the final time. They were action less. :S

Really nice, clean and gives an idea of all the content available.
One suggestion though, is on the homepage - write excerpts for the article, because when you just use the first x characters, you don’t necessarily get the whole gist of the article.
I would also make some banners to rotate around the top to show off the other features on the site, i.e interviews and WordPress themes.

AJ, I’d swap the background colors on the menu (use the red for the base, and then the greyish tan for the highlight) to tie it in with the red in the logo for branding and separation purposes (separation of the masthead from the content).
I’d also look into making sure the layout doesn’t break when using Opera’s page zoom feature (by break I mean forcing a horizontal scrollbar). It’s a trend I’ve noticed in a lot of design blogs lately and it’s really annoying me. You have my email address, so you can contact me that way for some pointers if you want.

Thanks Dan. Suggestion 1 is now in place, and I’ll look into getting the Opera thing sorted out

I like the improvements - nice and clean. I wouldn’t mind seeing recent headlines from the “Site News” section displayed on the homepage just so users can see all the dynamic updates displayed in one place. On preview, what Bryce was essentially saying.

Nice. I like the changes. It’s obviously much easier to take a quick glance at the content.

@Darren - I have it planned to add some news briefs and sidenotes briefs into the sidebar.

Been a long time really, since I stopped by. This and that. Nagging.
Love the redesign. Surely want to write a note about this ( not that it matters lol ).
Anyway, everyone, this is purely an example of what, Wordpress can do
